The project to develop the Loch Torridon Community Centre, as an extension to the Torridon Community Hall, had a projected total cost of over £1m. We were only able to plan, construct and equip the new building through the extremely generous support of our funding partners.
The Big Lottery Fund sponsored 50% of the total capital cost of the project and 75% of our projected shortfall over the first four years of operation. Big Lottery also financed our original research through their Investing in Ideas programme and provided the finance necessary to complete the process of applying for a full construction grant.
The Scottish Rural Development Programme, Rural Priorities funded a further 43% of the capital cost of the project.
Highlands & Islands Enterprise put up the remaining 7% of the finance. However, in addition to this they have entered into a partnership with us to help us achieve our business goals. Through this very valuable partnership they have provided us with Human Resources and Website consultants and have part financed our website development and the cost of signage.
We are extremely grateful to each of our funders, who together have made this project a reality.
We are also indebted to the local community who assisted us in raising funds, particularly in the early stages, without which the project would never have got off the ground. This also included a number of significant contributions in kind of time and expertise.
