Subject: Celtman - British Triathlon Event of the Year 2012
Hope all is well.
Thought you might be interested to hear that Celtman! won the British Triathlon ‘Event of the Year’ award on Saturday night – it’s the equivalent of triathlon’s Oscars (so we’re quite pleased about it!).
A huge amount of the credit for the success of the 2012 event must be placed at the feet of the people of Shieldaig, Torridon, Kinlochewe and Gairloch. You all played a massive part in enabling the event to happen at all, but also in creating an amazing atmosphere over the race weekend. Thanks very much to all concerned.
We closed entries for the 2013 event last week (it’s a sell-out), and will announce the entry list later today.
Roll on 6th July 2013!.

Just a “wee note” to say how amazing you all were during the Celtman event and to report that everyone who stayed here, and all who called in to Kinlochewe Hotel over the weekend, was full of compliments about the organisation and everyone who was involved in putting on the event in Torridon. Hats off to you all! We know how much hard work and organisation goes in to putting on these events. It was yet another great promotion for our lovely part of the world and for the hospitality we offer. Well done.

Subject: Celtman – Thanks
Wow. What a weekend. I thought I had my emotions and feeling under control about it, but I’ve felt pretty much overwhelmed today (and more than a bit knackered!).
I know this is a token gesture really, but I really do want to say thanks very much. I have never had the pleasure of working with a team of helpers like this before – it was an absolute joy to have all of you around. The Celtman race is the very definition of “we couldn’t have done it without you”. So thanks, massive thanks. Please pass this on to your teams and colleagues.
The responses we’ve been receiving from competitors and others in the last couple of days have been incredible. We’ll collate some of the comments and distribute them once we’ve had a chance to draw breath. They are all saying how fantastic you lot were. I agree. Thanks for sticking with it, and being cheery and helpful when it mattered most. I and the athletes appreciate it.
We should all be incredibly proud of what happened a couple of days ago. As a team we delivered something that people seem to really care about, and that mattered to them beyond a few quid of entry fee. There was a huge responsibility on us not to let them down. I think we achieved that, and much more. What happened on Saturday was very special – between us we’ve created a new iconic race that I have a feeling will be a bit oversubscribed next year!.
We’ve got things to learn for 2013 (yes, we are running it again!), so would be really interested to have your comments and feedback – please email me.
If you haven’t already seen it, here’s the video that Robby put together. Brought a lump to my throat.
