The Scottish Country Dance group meets in the Loch Torridon Community Centre each Tuesday at 7.30 pm from October 11th 2011 until Easter 2012. Classes for beginners are usually held at 7 pm each Tuesday.

New members welcome – please contact Marie Macdonald on 01445 791264. Costs are £2 per night. Visitors are also welcome to join us, provided they have some knowledge of Scottish Country dancing.

At the end of each winter session we get together with the group from Gairloch for an evening of dancing, with a buffet provided by the hosts for that year. The programme for the Spring 2012 party, hosted by Torridon, will be:

Reels: Clutha, Earl of Mansefield, Fifeness, Shiftin Bobbins
Jigs: Kelloholm Jig, Nurseryman, Old Nick’s Lumber Room, Starry Eyed Lassie
Strathspeys: Autumn in Appin, Golden Wedding, Minister on the Loch, Silver Tassie

Other dances will be danced throughout the session.

The Torridon Country Dancing group was started in 1973, and is affiliated to the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. Our branch is Inverness. Country dancing is good for the body and mind. It has proven to be one of the best aerobic exercises, and the memorising of formations is also good for the brain.

This is a social class and we welcome all new dancers. Why don’t you come along and give it a try.
